The 22 line arrived in 2022: soft oil-waxed calf with a drawstring closure, metal "CHANEL Paris" lettering on the front and an openwork double-C coin — one of the most recognisable things the house has made in recent years. The Mini is the size that holds value best in the line: small, light to wear, quick to move, while the Small and the Medium give up noticeably more. Colour cannot be read one way for all of them. Neutrals like black and beige have the widest pool of buyers; seasonal colours such as pink and pale blue have a relatively narrow audience, but demand for them can concentrate in particular stretches.
There is no single formula for a bag. The house and the model set the baseline, condition and accessories add to or subtract from it, and the market at the time decides the landing point; between two of the same reference you still look at size, leather, colour and how the hardware is paired.
How this price was set
Ms Ma’s bag was quoted at CNY 19,000, held up by two things: the Mini moves fastest in the 22 line — small, moderately priced, and plenty of takers — and the condition was Grade A, with no obvious scratching on the leather, the drawstring and metalwork in good order, and the shape still firm. Two things pulled down: pink is a seasonal colour, a step narrower than a neutral for buyers, and the box, dust bag and receipt were all gone, so accessories were counted at zero, with the deduction set out plainly on the offer sheet.
The price was not ours to set — it came from trade buyers bidding in the same window on the platform.
