The figure on this page is what this particular transaction settled at. It reflects the house, the model, the condition, how complete the accessories were and the market at the time, and is not a quoted price for a comparable piece.

The client

Mr Lin brought in an Evelyne in the mini size, black with silver hardware, worn cross-body day to day and kept in good order. The leather strap and the purchase receipt were still with him; the box and dust bag had been lost, so the accessories fall in the papers-without-box band. What he wanted to know was whether an entry-level model really holds value as poorly as people say, how far apart the three sizes are, and what proportion comes off for each missing accessory.

The model and the market

The Evelyne carries an H picked out in perforations across the front, a single-compartment cross-body build and a light body — a rare entry-level price point at Hermès, and an easier first step. The house names its sizes by letter: TPM at 16cm is what the market calls the mini, with PM at 29cm and GM at 33cm above it. Of the three, the TPM is small and light to wear, turns over fastest on the secondary market, and buyers are often waiting for one.

There is no single discount table for bags. Pricing starts with the house and the model to set a baseline, then condition and accessories make it up or take it off, and the market at the time gives the landing point; between two of the same reference, size, leather, body colour and hardware pairing are variables just the same.

How this price was set

Mr Lin’s bag was bought at CNY 12,500, with three things holding it up: the TPM turns over fastest of the three sizes and draws the most enquiries; the condition graded S, with no scratching to be seen on the leather, no wear around the perforations, and the hardware holding its original lustre; and the leather strap and receipt were both there, giving the accessories line positive support. The perforated design also breathes, and with no lining layer in the body it weighs a good deal less than a handbag of the same size, which makes it easy for everyday cross-body wearers to take on — and keeps the offer steadier.

The final figure is the market’s to decide: once inspected, the bag entered the bidding platform, buyers across the country bid in the same window, the offer sheet was laid out openly, and whichever tier the client picked is the one it sold at. The Evelyne is also in handbag buy-back, a common sight, and retail quotes no figure for it. (Market figures reflect publicly available data.)

What we did

  • Competitive buy-back

The bag goes onto the bidding platform and trade buyers post live offers within ten minutes. The number comes from the market, not from one shop

  • Handbag authentication

An appraiser team of more than a hundred. Every item is signed off by three of them, and each check is recorded line by line and photographed

  • Credentials

Named in 2025 to the first cohort of pre-owned goods circulation pilot enterprises by MOFCOM, the NDRC, the Ministry of Natural Resources and SAMR; in 2019 Vintage-Privée entered a three-way strategic partnership with CCIC (China Certification & Inspection Group) and Alibaba.

Questions about this case

What is an Hermès Evelyne worth at buy-back?

Size band, condition, colour and accessories each carry weight, and the TPM, PM and GM do not read across — change the size and it is a different market. This Grade S TPM in black, Shenzhen, August 2026, sold for CNY 12,500.

How big is an Evelyne mini?

The mini is the TPM, about 16cm wide, the smallest in the line. It is built for everyday cross-body wear, holds small personal items, and is almost weightless to carry. A long wallet and a phone fit; an A4 document does not.

Where in Shenzhen can I sell an Evelyne?

All three boutiques take it. The Evelyne is a regular, so no special appointment is needed. Call 400-831-5667 to fix a time and the check and the quote start when you arrive — from walking in to being quoted inside the same visit. Locations are on the Shenzhen boutiques page.

What should I watch for when shipping?

Send it freight-collect; the inspection result and the offer follow the day after the courier signs it in, and nothing is charged at any stage. Sending original accessories such as the leather strap along makes the check easier. If you walk away, nothing is charged and the piece comes back — pad the body with a soft cloth before you send it.
